Tomato season at my house = Northern Lights season

Tomatoes ripen as Northern Lights dance across the autumn skies
(I planted late! ;))

Autumn summarised in one post - winter beckons...

Some things just make me happy at this time of year!  We have snow now, and have had some really windy weather (Bermuda tornado-tail?) but WHAT AN AUTUMN :) I think everyone here is pinching themselves that this can't possibly be real.  We are having, and have had, some really super weather.  Here is a selection ;) And you get to meet Marco Prince ('Prince of the Fields') who I have recently started riding.

Life is good!

This is how autumn started....

And progressed... ;)

And then, suddenly: pow!

Frozen lakes, the sun not quite making the horizon.... Hands a little cold, nose a little chilly...

And then: -11C and you know that the sun isn't quite departed but is seriously on the way.  It gets cold, small outdoor tasks take longer, you can fire the stove and feel good about it, and... winter's icy breath is whispering to you!

(and you get to ride horses in deep powder-quality loose and fluffy snow-drifts ;)... the winter's icey layers and wind-blown crust has not yet taken hold!)

A taste of Easter to come!

Look whose back!  :-) Snowbuntings have arrived back from their southerly wintering ranges
