A room with a view. Looks realy great.

Can I take a liberty and pick your brains? I'm heading up to Tromso in two weeks for this years winter trip. The plan is to head into the Tonsvikdalen from Movik and head back towards Tromso over several days using huts and camping (I'm open to route suggestions if you know the area). We intend to take a taxi from the airport up to the trailhead but will need to buy fuel somewhere along the way. Perhaps a strange question but do you know if gas cannisters can be had in Kroken, perhaps at the petrol station?

hi Dave
No problem - you can get a BUS from them airport to the city (ask at the airport: 2 options 1) 'flybuss' (costs more; non-tranferabøe; direct) 2) local transport bus (costs 25Kr for 1 hours travel (ticket transferable), indirect). Both bus types are from the airport terminal, 1) from the exit doors, and 2)from a place not far from main entrance (other side of underground car park).

To get to TONSVIK you have to take the bus through the centre anyway. Can I suggest you get off at the centre, (ask for 'Prostneset'/'TOURIST INFO.' stop and one of you mind the bags and buy postcards, hang out, find out info from the bus terminal etc (!) whilst the other dashes the 10 minutes to SKANDINAVISK or INTERSPORT sportsshops for the gas. ** I WOULDNT trust Kroken petrol station for these products!!! **
From town centre and TOURIST INFO stop you can get a regional bus further - ask there at the bus terminal for onward travel to TONSVIK. It is not far. ca. 30 mins from the center...I imagine it could cast up to 70Kr. A taxi will cost you likely four times that....

useful website for buses:http://cominor.no/
